Thoughts about the School

Usually the years spent in school are some of the best years of a child’s life. I, for one, can declare that this is true without the slightest hesitation thanks to Vidhya Niketan. To me, school was not just a building where I learnt important dates in history or differential equations; I learnt about friendship, respect, sharing, leadership, giving, discipline and so many other values I may have used more in the real world than any of the former. The importance they give to extracurriculars is unparalleled and played a huge role in propelling my writing career forward. No matter how many years pass, I am sure I will never forget the years I spent here. I’m truly blessed to be a part of the Vidhya Niketan family. – NandhikaNambi

The Best school

Life has been typsy turvy, a roller coaster ride if I may term it right, but being a part of this roller coaster is very important and more than that – It is Necessary. Growing as a writer, film-maker in the Bollywood industry surely does test one’s time and determination towards the field (just as any other field does) and asks more out of you with each project. Same has been my case since the last five years where I grew learning from scratch the process and understanding my love and passion for films by assisting various well known directors and working with brilliant actors, technicians and performers and have slowly turned to writing and beginning to direct my own story ideas.
It’s the discipline to hone our crafts everyday, it’s one’s determination towards achieving a particular goal on a regular basis and all this would not have been possible if my base at school was different than what I had at Vidhya Niketan. What this school teaches is something more than just academic achievement; which I believe is just a part of a larger thing that we learn at school.
What Vidhya Niketan focuses is on an overall development of a student to help one face the real world, which surely is different in theory and practicality. One needs confidence, self-motivation and rigorous amount of hard work which the school consciously or sub-consciously ensures to imbibe it in each and every student. Consciously through various genre of activities and sub-consciously when teachers scold for a reason and they have the right reason for it. That’s the reason they are called teachers (The Givers) and we, the students (The Receivers) Be it presentations in class that one prepares for, theatre programmes that encourage the enthusiasts, elocution competition one looks forward to or sports activities that the school emphasizes on, each and every activity is so diverse and one does not know what all has been gained with respect to skill and personality until they leave the school. VNS and the teachers have been like a guiding force in shaping ideologies and have taught me to be true to my roots. The school has been an anchor that has helped me sail
through with the knowing that I shall be grounded when needed. Surely, one does not need to crib about moral science classes being boring or Science and Math being hectic. It’s all necessary until we find what we actually want to do and the germination of the thought of what needs to be done also happens in school and I give my word for that.
If one were to go back and think as to “why am I doing what I am doing” (mostly people who love to do what they do and do what they love) it will date back to a small decision made in school and them sticking to it despite all odds. VNS helps you stick to such thoughts with determination, humility and honesty and gives you the courage by backing you up at all times. It’s the opportunity, in fact the equal opportunity given to all to exhibit all that they want to, that’s what the school gives, repeatedly. Hence the saying of the school rightly remains and justifies – “Knowledge bestows Humility” – Vamsi Krishna (Batch 2010)

“Vidhya Niketan School has been the biggest boon in my life. It gave me the opportunity to do theatre by giving me training in that field- free of cost. It has been instrumental in my upbringing and has given me a voice in the world of the voiceless. Vidhya Niketan’s passion for the arts and creative expression has helped me and several others and truly goes to show that it’s not only marks that Vidhya niketan cares about.” – Mohammed Lehry Artistic director and founder, Dot Theatre.

The Best school

I’m Haritha, passes out in the year 2014 with 90% & I took up electronics and communication at Sri Krishna College of Technology. I passed out with another 9 CGPA and an appointment letter right when I completed my third year. I started to work throughout my final year balancing both work and studies and here I’m so glad to share a few words about the best thing that ever happened to me.

Vidhya Niketan turned out to be a major turning point to enhance my capabilities & personality. The confidence I stand with today is completely because of what I learnt from VN. The amount of exposure I got here was tremendous. I was able to enhance my inner wellbeing which definitely plays a vital role in today’s world through the mandatory Yoga classes offered. The reason people looked up to me in college for my vocabulary and attitude was solely because of VN. The kind friends I got are the ones I’d cherish for a lifetime. Each day held something interesting to hold on. The pile of events that VN let us participate in particularly the elections, paatshala, annual day, sports day etc., kept us on our toes. I’ll always be grateful to everyone here and my mom who decided to put me in this school. – Haritha | Junior Business Analyst
